Gebaut werden ausschließlich Teile des Organismus: Organe, Leitungen, Botenstoffe. Keine Hilfsprozedur darf ein Ergebnis direkt herstellen. Als Prüfung gilt: Lässt sich das Verhalten bereits am Programmtext ablesen, ist es kein Organ. Ein Organ muss man laufen lassen, um zu sehen, was es tut.
Only parts of the organism are built: organs, pathways, messenger substances. No helper procedure may produce a result directly. The test is: if the behaviour can already be read from the program text, it is not an organ. An organ has to be run to see what it does.

Jede Regel geht auf ein Problem einer früheren Version zurück.
Each rule goes back to a problem in an earlier version.
- Es wird nur der Organismus gebaut. Jede Programmzeile ist Teil des Organismus. Kein Hilfswerkzeug berechnet, was der Organismus selbst berechnen müsste. Zweihundert korrekte Einzelteile ergeben noch keinen Organismus. (Aus V10 · V11)
- Geprüft wird am laufenden Organismus, von außen. Kein Prüfstand ersetzt den Organismus. Lässt sich eine Frage nur mit einem Hilfsprogramm beantworten, ist sie falsch gestellt, oder es fehlt das Organ, das sie beantworten würde. (Aus V11)
- Die Vorhersage steht vor dem Lauf. Was ein Lauf zeigen soll, wird vor dem Start aufgeschrieben, zusammen mit der Beobachtung, die die Erwartung widerlegen würde. Hinterher lässt sich nichts umdeuten. (Aus V8)
- Vor jedem Bau: worauf ruht das? Rund die Hälfte aller Selbstkorrekturen ging auf eine ungeprüfte Grundlage zurück. Die Grundlage war jedes Mal billiger zu prüfen als das, was darauf gebaut wurde. (Aus V9)
- Nur der Mensch ist die Vorlage. Belege kommen aus Forschung am Menschen. Tierbefunde zählen nicht, auch nicht als Analogie. Wo am Menschen nichts gemessen ist, wird der Mechanismus nicht gebaut. (Aus V10)
- Kein negativer Befund ohne Folgehandlung. Jedes negative Ergebnis erhält eine von wenigen festgelegten Handlungen. Einen Eintrag „zur Kenntnis genommen“ gibt es nicht. (Aus V7)
- Only the organism is built. Every line of code is part of the organism. No helper tool computes what the organism should compute itself. Two hundred correct parts do not yet make an organism. (From V10 · V11)
- Testing happens on the running organism, from the outside. No test bench replaces the organism. If a question can only be answered with a helper program, it is wrongly posed, or the organ that would answer it is missing. (From V11)
- The prediction is written before the run. What a run is expected to show is written down before it starts, together with the observation that would refute the expectation. Nothing can be reinterpreted afterwards. (From V8)
- Before every build: what does it rest on? Roughly half of all self corrections traced back to an unchecked foundation. Each time, the foundation was cheaper to check than what had been built on it. (From V9)
- Humans are the only reference. Evidence comes from research on humans. Animal findings do not count, not even as analogy. Where nothing has been measured in humans, the mechanism is not built. (From V10)
- No negative finding without a follow up action. Every negative result is assigned one of a few defined actions. There is no entry „noted“. (From V7)
